Installing
Which versions does it need?
macOS 12 or later on a Mac, and Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, on a PC.
How do I remove it?
On a Mac, quit SansTypo from the menu bar and move it from Applications to the Bin. On Windows, remove it from Settings › Apps like any other app.

Why does it need Accessibility?
To read the field you’re typing in, and to put the fix back when you accept it. It asks once, and says why first.
Why would it need Screen Recording?
Only to read text in pictures: slides, designs, PDFs and screenshots. The pixels are dropped as soon as the text is read. Without it, checking as you type still works.
I switched Accessibility on, but nothing is marked
Quit SansTypo and open it again. macOS sometimes applies the switch only after a restart of the app.

Windows says it protected my PC
The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen doesn’t recognise it. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Check the SHA-256 on the download page if you want to confirm the file.
The browser extension
Do I need the extension?
No. The app checks text fields in any browser. The extension makes it better: marks sit inside the page and scroll with it, and it reaches fields a page builds itself.
Why does it ask to Allow All Sites?
Until you do, it reads only the page you opened the popup on. It never reads password fields or private windows.
Pairing
Where is the pairing code?
In the SansTypo app, open the Browser tab. Copy the code and paste it into the extension’s popup, once in each browser.
Why is there a code at all?
Other programs on your computer could pretend to be SansTypo. The code proves to each side that it is talking to the real one.
Visual Mode
How do I check text in a picture?
Press ⌃⌘P on a Mac or Ctrl+Alt+P on Windows, and drag over the text. Fixes are copied to the clipboard, since pixels can’t be edited in place.
It checks Keynote and Figma on its own. Can I stop that?
Yes. In the app, open Visual Mode and turn off Check design apps automatically, or remove a single app from the list.
Proofreading a file
Is my file uploaded?
No. It is opened by your browser and checked in that tab. Open the network panel while it checks and you will see nothing leave.
Why can’t it correct my PDF?
A PDF’s text can’t be rewritten in place. You get an annotated copy with the fixes as notes, and the corrected text.
Something broken?
Attach the log file to an issue. It holds times and error messages, never what you wrote.
